Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, I, 83

Suppose that K\mathbf{K} is a field. Let gg be a Lie K\mathbf{K}-algebra and UU its enveloping algebra. (a) Let u,vu, v be in UU. If uu is of filtration >n> n, and vv of filtration >p> p, then uvuv is of filtration >n+p> n + p (use Theorem 1). (b) Deduce from (a) that the only invertible elements of UU are the scalars. (c) Deduce from (b) that the Jacobson radical of UU is zero.
