Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, I, 102

For a Lie algebra gg to be semi-simple, it is necessary and sufficient that it be reductive in every Lie algebra containing gg as a subalgebra. (If gg satisfies this condition, let MM be a gg-module of finite dimension over KK. Considering MM as a commutative algebra, form the semi-direct product of gg and MM, in which gg is reductive. Deduce that MM is semi-simple.)
