Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, IV

Let HH be a simple non-abelian group. Let θ\theta be an automorphism of HH of prime order pp and let UU be the semi-direct product of Z/pZ\mathbf{Z}/p\mathbf{Z} by HH corresponding to θ\theta. Show that, if θ\theta is not an inner automorphism, the only normal subgroups of UU are {1}\{1\}, HH and UU. Deduce that UU is not soluble, but that it satisfies condition (R) of no. 7. Apply this to show that the symmetric group Sn\mathfrak{S}_n satisfies condition (R).
