General Topology, I, 118

Consider the following four properties of a given topological space XX:

(D_I) The topology of XX has a countable base.

(D_{II}) XX has a countable dense subset.

(D_{III}) Every subset of XX, all of whose points are isolated, is countable.

(D_{IV}) Every set of mutually disjoint non-empty open subsets of XX is countable.

Show that (DI)(D_I) implies (DII)(D_{II}) and (DIII)(D_{III}), and that each of (DII)(D_{II}) and (DIII)(D_{III}) imply (DIV)(D_{IV}) (*).
