Let ff be a mapping of a topological space XX into a topological space X′X'. Prove that the following statements are equivalent: a) ff is continuous on XX. b) For every subset A′A' of X′X', f−1(A′)‾⊂(f−1(A′)‾)0\overline{f^{-1}(A')} \subset (\overline{f^{-1}(A')})^0. c) For every subset A′A' of X′X', f−1(A′)‾⊂f−1(A′‾)‾\overline{f^{-1}(A')} \subset \overline{f^{-1}(\overline{A'})}. Show by an example that, if ff is continuous, the sets f−1(A′)‾\overline{f^{-1}(A')} and f−1(A′‾)‾\overline{f^{-1}(\overline{A'})} can be distinct.
