General Topology, I, 123

Let AA and BB be any two subsets of a topological space XX.

a) Show that the intersection of AA and the interior of BB with respect to XX is contained in the interior of B∩AB \cap A with respect to AA. Give an example where these two sets are distinct.

b) Show that the intersection of AA and the closure of BB with respect to XX contains the closure of B∩AB \cap A with respect to AA. Give an example where the two sets are distinct.
