General Topology, III, 302

Let GG be the product of a family (Gi)i∈I(G_i)_{i \in I} of topological groups, and let G′G' be a topological group such that there is a neighbourhood V′V' of the identity element e′e' in G′G' which contains no normal subgroup of G′G' other than {e′}\{e'\}. If ff is a continuous homomorphism of GG into G′G', show that there is a subset JJ of II whose complement J′J' is finite, such that ff is equal to e′e' on the subgroup ∏i∈IGi×∏i∈J′{ei}\prod_{i \in I} G_i \times \prod_{i \in J'} \{e_i\} of GG.
