Exercise 2, § 5

General Topology, III

Let GG be a complete Hausdorff commutative group such that every neighbourhood of oo in GG contains an open subgroup of GG (this is the case in particular if GG is locally compact and totally disconnected; cf. § 4, Exercise 18). A family (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i \in I} of points of GG is summable if and only if lim⁡xi=o\lim x_i = o with respect to the filter of complements of finite subsets of II. Hence show that every convergent series in GG is commutatively convergent.
