Exercise 3, § 4

General Topology, VIII

Using Proposition 10 of Chapter I, § 3, no. 6, prove that the real projective space Pn(R)P_n(\mathbf{R}) is homeomorphic to the subspace of Pn(C)P_n(\mathbf{C}) consisting of these points which have at least one system of real homogeneous coordinates. [Rn+1∗R_{n+1}^* being considered as embedded in Cn+1∗C_{n+1}^*, let AA be a closed set in Rn+1∗R_{n+1}^*, saturated with respect to Δn(R)\Delta_n(\mathbf{R}); let BB be the set of all points ζx\zeta x, where x∈Ax \in A and ζ∈U\zeta \in U; show that B‾\overline{B} is saturated with respect to Δn(C)\Delta_n(\mathbf{C}), and that AA is the trace of B‾\overline{B} on Rn+1∗R_{n+1}^*.]
