Exercise 29, § 3

General Topology, X

Let XX be a compact space and let GG be a topological group operating continuously on XX, such that every orbit of GG is dense in XX. Show that if, for every continuous real-valued function ff on XX, there exists x0∈Xx_0 \in X such that s↦f(s.x0)s \mapsto f(s.x_0) is almost periodic on GG, then GG is equicontinuous (use the fact that X is homeomorphic to a closed subspace of a cube). Consider the converse, when G is abelian.
