Algebra, VIII, p. 33, § 2. The Structure of Modules of Finite Length

Let M be an A-module that is the direct sum of a family (Mi)i∈I(M_i)_{i\in I} of primordial submodules, and let pp be a nonzero projector of M. There exists an index i∈Ii\in I such that pp induces an isomorphism from MiM_i to a direct factor submodule of p(M)p(M).

Since pp is nonzero, 1M−p1_M-p is not injective. By Lemma 2, there exists an index i∈Ii\in I such that pp induces an isomorphism from MiM_i to a direct factor submodule of M. Every projector of M with image p(Mi)p(M_i) defines, by restriction, a projector of p(M)p(M) with image p(Mi)p(M_i), so p(Mi)p(M_i) is a direct factor submodule of p(M)p(M).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
