Algebra, VIII, p. 156, § 9. Radical

An element of A is invertible if and only if its canonical image in the ring A/R(A)A/\mathfrak{R}(A) is invertible.

The condition is obviously necessary. Let us prove that it is sufficient. Let xx be an element of A whose canonical image in the ring A/R(A)A/\mathfrak{R}(A) is invertible. There then exists an element yy of A such that xyxy belongs to 1+R(A)1 +\mathfrak{R}(A). By Theorem 1,xy,xy is invertible; hence xx is right invertible. The proof that xx is left invertible is analogous.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
