Algebra, VIII, p. 340, § 17. Reduced Norms and Traces

Let L be the field K(X) of rational fractions in one variable X. The reduced characteristic polynomial of an element aa of A is simply the reduced norm of the element X⊗1−1⊗aX\otimes 1-1\otimes a of the L-algebra A(L)A_{(L)}. This follows from the definition of the reduced characteristic polynomial and the formula (III, §9, No. 3, p. 544)

(25) PcA/K(a;X)=NA(L)/L(X⊗1−1⊗a)_{A/K}(a; X) = N_{A_{(L)}/L}(X\otimes 1-1\otimes a).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
