Algebra, VIII, p. 377, § 20. Linear Representations of Algebras

Suppose that M is finite-dimensional over K. Let (e1,...,en)(e_1, . . . , e_n) be a basis of V, and let (e1∗,...,en∗)(e^*_1, . . . , e^*_n) be its dual basis. Denote by (πij(a))(\pi_{ij}(a)) the matrix of π(a)\pi (a) with respect to the basis (e1,...,en)(e_1, . . . , e_n) of V; we have πij=\pi_{ij}= cπ(ej,ei∗)c_{\pi}(e_j, e^*_i). The mapping a↦(πij(a))a\mapsto (\pi_{ij}(a)) is a homomorphism from A to Mn(K)\mathbf{M}_n(K); such a homomorphism is sometimes called a matrix representation of the algebra A.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
