Algebra, VIII, p. 399, § 21. Linear Representations of Finite Groups

Suppose that K is a commutative field. Let π\pi and π′\pi ' be finite-dimensional semisimple K-linear representations of G.

a) If the characteristic polynomials of π(g)\pi (g) and π′(g)\pi '(g) are the same for every g∈Gg\in G, then the representations π\pi and π′\pi ' are isomorphic.

b) Suppose, moreover, that K has characteristic 0. If the characters χπ\chi_{\pi} and χπ′\chi_{\pi'} are equal, then the representations π\pi and π′\pi ' are isomorphic.

Assertion a) follows from Corollary 1 of VIII, p. 386; assertion b) follows from part a) of the corollary of VIII, p. 384.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
