Algebra, VIII, p. 214, § 12. Tensor Products of Semisimple Modules
Let and be -modules, and let and be -modules. We make the following assumptions:
(i) The -module is finitely generated.
(ii) The -module is finitely generated, or is finite-dimensional over K.
Set and , and view them as modules over the ring . The canonical homomorphism (II, §3, No. 5, p. 251)
Hom Hom Hom
then induces an isomorphism of K-vector spaces
Hom Hom Hom.
The mapping is injective (II, §7, No. 7, p. 308, Proposition 16) and sends the linear subspace Hom Hom to Hom. It therefore suffices to prove that every A-linear mapping from M to N belongs to the image of Hom Hom by . Let be an A-linear mapping. Let . Denote by the -linear mapping from to . Set P = Hom, and denote by the canonical homomorphism from to Hom (II, §4, No. 2, p. 269). This mapping is injective (II, §4, No. 2, p. 269, Proposition 2, (i) applied to the K-vector space ). By assumption (ii), there exists a linear subspace of , finite-dimensional over K, such that takes on values in . It follows that is the image by of a unique element of . The mapping from to is -linear. By assumption (i), the -module is finitely generated. A reasoning analogous to the above shows that belongs to the image of Hom in Hom. Lemma 1 follows.
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
