Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VII, § 4. Regular elements of a Lie group

Let V be a neighbourhood of ee in G. Every Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g} is of the form g1(a)\mathfrak{g}^1(a) where aa is a regular element of G belonging to V.

By Prop. 6, there exists an open neighbourhood U of 0 in g\mathfrak{g} and an exponential map exp:U→G: U\rightarrow G satisfying the conditions of Lemma 4. If h\mathfrak{h} is a Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}, there exists a regular element x∈hx\in \mathfrak{h} such that h=g0(x)(\mathfrak{h}=\mathfrak{g}^0(x) (§3, Th. 2). On the other hand, there exists an element t∈k∗t\in k^* such that tx∈Utx\in U and exp(txtx)∈V\in V. Then h=g0(x)=g0(tx)=g1\mathfrak{h}=\mathfrak{g}^0(x) =\mathfrak{g}^0(tx) =\mathfrak{g}^1(exp(txtx)), and by Lemma 4 (ii), exp(txtx) is a regular element of G.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
