Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VII, § 5. Decomposable linear Lie algebras

Let g\mathfrak{g} be a Lie subalgebra of gl(V)\mathfrak{g}\mathfrak{l}(V), and let X be a subset of g\mathfrak{g} generating g(\mathfrak{g}(as a Lie algebra over k).

(i) The decomposable envelope e(g)e(\mathfrak{g}) of g\mathfrak{g} is generated by the semi-simple and nilpotent components of the elements of X.

(ii) If k′k' is an extension of k,e(g⊗kk′)=e(g)⊗kk′k,e(\mathfrak{g}\otimes_kk') =e(\mathfrak{g})\otimes_kk'; and g\mathfrak{g} is decomposable if and only if g⊗kk′\mathfrak{g}\otimes_kk' is decomposable.

Let g~\widetilde{\mathfrak{g}} be the subalgebra of gl(V)\mathfrak{g}\mathfrak{l}(V) generated by the semi-simple and nilpotent components of the elements of X. Then g⊂g~⊂e(g)\mathfrak{g}\subset \widetilde{\mathfrak{g}}\subset e(\mathfrak{g}); by Th. 1,g~1, \widetilde{\mathfrak{g}} is decomposable, so g~=e(g)\widetilde{\mathfrak{g}}=e(\mathfrak{g}), which proves (i). Assertion (ii) follows, since X generates the k′k'-algebra g⊗kk′\mathfrak{g}\otimes_kk'.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
