Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 3. Subalgebras of split semi-simple Lie algebras

Let a\mathfrak{a} be a subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g} containing h,x\mathfrak{h},x an element of a,s\mathfrak{a},s and nn its semi-simple and nilpotent components. Then s∈as\in \mathfrak{a} and n∈an\in \mathfrak{a}.

We have (ad xx)a⊂a\mathfrak{a}\subset \mathfrak{a}, so (ad ss)a⊂a\mathfrak{a}\subset \mathfrak{a} and (ad nn)a⊂a\mathfrak{a}\subset \mathfrak{a}. Since a\mathfrak{a} is its own normalizer in g\mathfrak{g} (Chap. VII, §2, no. 1, Cor. 4 of Prop. 44),s∈a,s\in \mathfrak{a} and n∈an\in \mathfrak{a}.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
