Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 3. Subalgebras of split semi-simple Lie algebras

Let b=h+gP\mathfrak{b}=\mathfrak{h}+\mathfrak{g}^P be a subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g} containing h\mathfrak{h}. The following conditions are equivalent:

(i) b\mathfrak{b} is a maximal solvable subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g};

(ii) there exists a chamber C of R such that P=R+(C)P = R_+(C);

(iii) P∩(−P)=∅P\cap (-P) =\emptyset and P∪(−P)=RP\cup (-P) = R.

(i) =⇒=\Rightarrow (ii): If b\mathfrak{b} is solvable, P∩(−P)=∅P\cap (-P) =\emptyset. Then there exists a chamber C of R such that P⊂R+(C)P\subset R_+(C) (Chap. VI, §1, no. 7, Prop. 22). Then h+gR+(C)\mathfrak{h}+\mathfrak{g}^{R_+(C)} is a solvable subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g} containing b\mathfrak{b}, hence equal to b\mathfrak{b} if b\mathfrak{b} is maximal.

(ii) =⇒=\Rightarrow (iii): This is clear.

(iii) =⇒=\Rightarrow (i): Assume that P∩(−P)=∅P\cap (-P) =\emptyset and that P∪(−P)=RP\cup (-P) = R. Then b\mathfrak{b} is solvable. Let b′\mathfrak{b}' be a solvable subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g} containing b\mathfrak{b}. There exists a subset Q of R such that b′=h+gQ\mathfrak{b}'=\mathfrak{h}+\mathfrak{g}^Q. Then Q∩(−Q)=∅Q\cap (-Q) =\emptyset and Q⊃PQ\supset P, so Q = P and b′=b\mathfrak{b}'=\mathfrak{b}.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
