Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 8. Symmetric invariants

Let Π\Pi be a subgroup of V∗V^* that generates the vector space V∗V^*, and mm an integer ≥0\geq 0. Then prm_m(exp Π\Pi ) generates the vector space Sm(V∗)\mathbf{S}^m(V^*).

By Algebra, Chap. I, §8, no. 2, Prop. 2, any product of mm elements of V∗V^* is a kk-linear combination of elements of the form xmx^m where x∈Πx\in \Pi. But xm=mx^m=m! prm_m(exp xx). Q.E.D.

By transport of structure, every automorphism of V defines automorphisms of the algebras S(V)\mathbf{S}(V) and S(V)∗\mathbf{S}(V)^*; this gives linear representations of GL(V)\mathbf{G}\mathbf{L}(V) on S(V)\mathbf{S}(V) and S(V)∗\mathbf{S}(V)^*.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
