Let V be a finite dimensional vector space, Q a non-degenerate quadratic form on V, and Ψ\Psi the symmetric bilinear form associated to Q. Denote the Lie algebra o(Ψ)\mathfrak{o}(\Psi ) by g\mathfrak{g} and the extension of Ψ\Psi to ⋀2(V)\bigwedge^2(V) by Ψ2\Psi_2.

a) Show that there exists an isomorphism of vector spaces θ:⋀2(V)→g\theta :\bigwedge^2(V)\rightarrow \mathfrak{g} characterized by the following equivalent properties:

(i) For a,ba, b and xx in V, we have θ(a∧b).x=a.Ψ(x,b)−b.Ψ(x,a)\theta (a\wedge b).x=a.\Psi (x, b)-b.\Psi (x, a).

(ii) For x,yx, y in V and uu in ⋀2(V)\bigwedge^2(V) we have Ψ2(x∧y,u)=Ψ(x,θ(u).y)\Psi_2(x\wedge y, u) =\Psi (x, \theta (u).y).

Let σ\sigma be the identity representation of g\mathfrak{g} on V; then θ\theta is an isomorphism of ⋀2(V)\bigwedge^2(V) with the adjoint representation of g\mathfrak{g}.

b) Define the linear map f:g→C+(Q)f:\mathfrak{g}\rightarrow C^+(Q) as in Lemma 1 of no. 2. Show that fθ(a∧b)=12(ab−ba)f \theta (a\wedge b) =\frac{1}{2}(ab-ba) for a,ba, b in V, and deduce a new proof of assertions (iii), (iv) and (v) of Lemma 1 of no. 2.

c) The notations l,F,F′,e0,N,λl,F,F', e_0,N, \lambda and ρ\rho are those of no. 2. Choose e≠0e\not= 0 in ⋀(F′)\bigwedge(F') and define the bilinear form Φ\Phi on N by

x∧y=(−1)p(p+1)/2Φ(x,y).e(x∈⋀p(F′),y∈N) x\wedge y= (-1)^{p(p+1)/2}\Phi (x, y).e(x\in \bigwedge^p(F'), y\in N)

Show that Φ(λ(a).x,y)+Φ(x,λ(a).y)=0\Phi (\lambda (a).x, y) +\Phi (x, \lambda (a).y) = 0 for x,yx, y in N and aa in F⊕F′F\oplus F'. Deduce that Φ\Phi is invariant under the representation ρ\rho of g\mathfrak{g} (remark that the Lie algebra ρ(g)\rho (\mathfrak{g}) is generated by λ(F⊕F′)\lambda (F\oplus F') by aa) and b) above).
