Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 2. Maximal tori of compact Lie groups

Let g∈Gg\in G, and let C be its centralizer. Then gg belongs to C0C_0; the group C0C_0 is the union of the maximal tori of G containing gg.

There exists a maximal torus T of G containing gg (Th. 2c2c))), and hence contained in C0C_0. Moreover, the group C0C_0 is a connected compact Lie group, and hence the union of its maximal tori (Th. 2c2c))); these all contain gg (Cor. 2), hence are exactly the maximal tori of G containing gg.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
