Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 2. Maximal tori of compact Lie groups

Let G be a connected compact Lie group, D~(G)\widetilde{D}(G) the universal covering of the group D(G) and f:D~(G)→Gf: \widetilde{D}(G)\rightarrow G the composite of the canonical morphisms from D~(G)\widetilde{D}(G) to D(G) and from D(G) to G. Then the map T→f−1(T)T\rightarrow f^{-1}(T) is a bijection from the set of maximal tori of G to the set of maximal tori of D~(G)\widetilde{D}(G); the inverse bijection associates to a maximal torus T~\widetilde{T} of D~(G)\widetilde{D}(G) the maximal torus C(G)0.f(T~)C(G)_0.f( \widetilde{T}) of G.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
