Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 4. Root system associated to a compact group

Let (g,h)(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}) be a split reductive Q\mathbf{Q}-Lie algebra, and M⊂hM\subset \mathfrak{h} a permissible lattice (Chap. VIII, §12, no. 6, Def. 1). Let M0M_0 be the subgroup of M orthogonal to the roots of (g,h)(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}) and R∨R^{\vee} the set of the Hα,α∈R(g,h)H_{\alpha},\alpha \in R(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}). Then (M,M0,R∨)(M,M_0,R^{\vee}) is a root diagram, and (M∗,M0∗,R(g,h))(M^*,M^*_0,R(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h})) is the inverse diagram.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
