Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, IX, 411

Denote by H(G) the graded R\mathbf{R}-algebra H(Ω(G))H(\Omega (G)) (cf. Exerc. 4).

a) The space Hp(G)H^p(G) is zero for p>np > n and of dimension one for p=np=n and p=0p= 0. The space H1(G)H^1(G) can be identified canonically with c∗\mathfrak{c}^*, where c=L(C(G))\mathfrak{c}= L(C(G)).

b) Assume from now on that G is semi-simple. Show that H1(G)=H2(G)=0H^1(G) = H^2(G) = 0 (cf. Chap. I, §6, Exerc. 1).

c) Denote by B(g)B(\mathfrak{g}) the space of G-invariant symmetric bilinear forms on g\mathfrak{g}; for b∈B(g)b\in B(\mathfrak{g}) and x,y,zx, y, z in g\mathfrak{g}, put b~(x,y,z)=b([x,y],z)\widetilde{b}(x, y, z) =b([x, y], z). Show that the map b→b~b \rightarrow \widetilde{b} defines an isomorphism from B(g)B(\mathfrak{g}) to H3(G)H^3(G) (let ω∈H3(G)\omega \in H^3(G); prove that, for all x∈gx\in \mathfrak{g}, there exists a unique linear form f(x)f(x) on g\mathfrak{g} such that df(x)=i(x)ωdf(x) =i(x)\omega, and consider the form (x,y)→−⟨y,f(x)⟩(x, y) \rightarrow -\langle y, f(x)\rangle ).

d) Show that the dimension of the R\mathbf{R}-vector space H3(G)H^3(G) is equal to the number of simple ideals of g\mathfrak{g}.
