Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 9. Compact Lie groups operating on manifolds
Let be a point of X a morphism of class that is an immersion at . There exists a neighbourhood of in and a neighbourhood B of in X such that, for all , the restriction of to B is injective.
Let U be a relatively compact open neighbourhood of isomorphic to a finite dimensional vector space, and such that is contained in the domain V of a chart. The set of such that is open in (X;Y), and the restriction map is continuous; we are thus reduced to proving the lemma when X = U and Y = V, in other words, we can assume that X is a finite dimensional vector space and Y is a Banach space. Choose norms on X and Y.
The linear map Y is injective; denote its conorm by Spectral Theory, Chap. III, §2, no. 6), so that, by definition, we have for all . Let be such that , and let B be a closed ball with centre such that for all . Denote by the subset of consisting of the morphisms such that for all ; it is open by definition of the topology of . For , put . We have for all , and consequently for all and in B (Differentiable and Analytic Manifolds, Results, 2.2.3). It follows that
Consequently, the restriction of to B is injective, hence the lemma.
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
