Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, Appendix 1. Structure of compact groups

Let (Gα,fαβ)(G_{\alpha}, f_{\alpha \beta}) be a projective system of topological groups relative to a filtered index set I, and G its limit. Assume that the canonical maps fα:G→Gαf_{\alpha}: G\rightarrow G_{\alpha} are surjective.

a) The subgroups D(Gα)D(G_{\alpha}) (resp. C(Gα)C(G_{\alpha}), resp. C(Gα)0C(G_{\alpha})_0) form a projective system of subsets of GαG_{\alpha}.

b) We have D(G) = lim←−αD(Gα)‾_{_{\leftarrow -}\alpha}\overline{D(G_{\alpha})} and C(G) = lim←−αC(Gα)_{_{\leftarrow -}\alpha}C(G_{\alpha}).

c) If GαG_{\alpha} is compact for all α∈I\alpha \in I, then C(G)0=C(G)_0= lim←−αC(Gα)0_{_{\leftarrow -}\alpha}C(G_{\alpha})_0.

Let α,β\alpha , \beta be two elements of I, with α≤β\alpha \leq \beta. Then fαβ(D(Gβ))⊂D(Gα)f_{\alpha \beta}(D(G_{\beta}))\subset D(G_{\alpha}), and fαβ(C(Gβ))⊂C(Gα)f_{\alpha \beta}(C(G_{\beta}))\subset C(G_{\alpha}) since fαβf_{\alpha \beta} is surjective; since fαβf_{\alpha \beta} is continuous, it follows that fαβ(D(Gβ)‾)⊂D(Gα)‾f_{\alpha \beta}(\overline{D(G_{\beta})})\subset \overline{D(G_{\alpha})} and fαβ(C(Gβ)0)⊂C(Gα)0f_{\alpha \beta}(C(G_{\beta})_0)\subset C(G_{\alpha})_0, hence a). Since fαf_{\alpha} is surjective, fα(D(G))=D(Gα)f_{\alpha}(D(G)) = D(G_{\alpha}) (Algebra, Chap. I, §6, no. 2, Prop. 6), so D(G)‾=\overline{D(G)}= lim←−D(Gα)‾_{\leftarrow -}\overline{D(G_{\alpha})} (General Topology, Chap. I, §4, no. 4, Cor. of Prop. 9). The surjectivity of fαf_{\alpha} also implies the inclusion fα(C(G))⊂f_{\alpha}(C(G))\subset C(Gα)C(G_{\alpha}) and hence C(G)⊂C(G)\subset lim←−C(Gα)_{\leftarrow -}C(G_{\alpha}); the opposite inclusion is immediate. Finally, assertion c) follows from b) and General Topology, Chap. III, §7, no. 2, Prop. 4).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
