Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 251

The notations are those of no. 5. Let λ∈h∗,z∈Z,z′\lambda \in \mathfrak{h}^*, z\in Z,z' the image of zz under the principal anti-automorphism of U(g)U(\mathfrak{g}), and w0w_0 the element of W that transforms B into −B-B. Show that χλ(z)=χ−w0λ(z′)\chi_{\lambda}(z) =\chi_{-w_0\lambda}(z').

(It suffices to prove this for λ∈P++\lambda \in P_{++}. Consider the operation of zz on E(λ)E(\lambda ) and E(λ)∗E(\lambda )^*; use Prop. 11 of §7.)
