Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 251

Let λ∈h∗\lambda \in \mathfrak{h}^* and let V be a non-zero g\mathfrak{g}-submodule of Z(λ)Z(\lambda ). Show that there exists μ∈h∗\mu\in \mathfrak{h}^* such that V contains a simple g\mathfrak{g}-submodule isomorphic to Z(μ)Z(\mu).

(Let A be the set of ν∈h∗\nu \in \mathfrak{h}^* such that V contains a g\mathfrak{g}-submodule isomorphic to Z(ν)Z(\nu ). By using Prop. 6 of no. 6, show first that A≠∅A\not=\emptyset. Then show that A is finite, and consider an element μ\mu of A such that (μ−Q+)∩A={μ}.(\mu-Q_+)\cap A =\{\mu\}.)
