Topologie algébrique, chapter I, § 6. Espaces simplement connexes

A connected and locally connected topological space such that the intersection of any two connected open subsets is connected is a simply connected space.

Let B be such a topological space. Let (E,p)(E, p) be a covering of B, let xx be a point of E and write b=p(x)b=p(x). We have to prove that there exists a continuous section ss of pp such that s(b)=xs(b) =x (cor. 2, I, p. 70). Let S\mathscr{S} be the set of pairs (U,sU)(U, s_U) where U is a connected open subset of B containing bb and sUs_U a continuous section of pU:p−1(U)→Up_U:\overset{-1}{p}(U)\rightarrow U such that sU(b)=xs_U(b) =x. The set S\mathscr{S} is not empty ( I, p. 34, prop. 10). Let (U,sU)(U, s_U) and (V,sV)(V, s_V) be elements of S\mathscr{S}. Then sU∣U∩Vs_U|U\cap V and sV∣U∩Vs_V|U\cap V are continuous sections of pU∩Vp_{U\cap V} taking the value xx at bb. By hypothesis, U∩VU\cap V is connected; hence sU∣U∩V=sV∣U∩Vs_U|U\cap V =s_V|U\cap V (I, p. 34, cor. 1 of prop. 11). Let A be the union of the open sets U when (U,sU)(U, s_U) ranges over S\mathscr{S} and let s:A→Es: A\rightarrow E be the unique mapping such that s∣U=sUs|U =s_U for every pair (U,sU)∈S(U, s_U)\in \mathscr{S}. The set A is open and connected (TG, I, p. 81, prop. 2), it contains bb, and ss is a continuous section of pAp_A such that s(b)=xs(b) =x. It now suffices to prove that the set A is closed, which will imply that it is equal to B.

Let aa be a point of B adherent to A and let V be a connected open neighbourhood of aa such that the covering E is trivializable over V. There exists a point cc in A∩VA\cap V and a continuous section sVs_V of pVp_V such that sV(c)=s(c)s_V(c) =s(c). Let A′A' be the open set A∪VA\cup V. Since A∩VA\cap V is connected, there exists a continuous section s′s' of pA′p_{A'} extending ss and sV(s_V(I, p. 35, cor. 3 of prop. 11); the pair (A′,s′)(A', s') belongs to S\mathscr{S} and therefore A′A' is contained in A. Hence aa belongs to A and A is closed.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
