Topologie algébrique, chapter II, § 3. Groupoïdes
Let G be a groupoid. The relation "there exists an arrow of G joining to " is an equivalence relation in the set of vertices of G whose equivalence classes are the orbits of G.
Let be vertices of G. One has ; if , ; if and , one has . This shows that the indicated relation is reflexive, symmetric and transitive; it is therefore an equivalence relation. The second assertion then results from the definition of the connected components of a quiver.
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
