Topologie algébrique, chapter II, § 4. Homotopies

Let G′G' be a groupoid, let η,η′\eta ,\eta ' be groupoid morphisms of Coh(φ,ψ\varphi , \psi ) into G′G', and let kk be a mapping of Som(G) into Fl(G′'). In order that kk be a homotopy joining η\eta to η′\eta ', it is necessary and sufficient that the following two conditions be satisfied:

(i) The mapping kk is a homotopy joining η∘α\eta \circ \alpha to η′∘α\eta '\circ \alpha;

(ii) For every vertex aa of H, one has

η(h(a))k(ψ(a))=k(φ(a))η′(h(a)) \eta (h(a))k(\psi (a)) =k(\varphi (a))\eta '(h(a))

By definition, in order that kk be a homotopy joining η\eta to η′\eta ', it is necessary and sufficient that the following two conditions be fulfilled (recall that Som(G) = Som(Coh(φ,ψ\varphi , \psi ))) :

a) For every vertex xx of Coh(φ,ψ\varphi , \psi ),k(x),k(x) joins η(x)\eta (x) to η′(x)\eta '(x) ;

b) For every pair (x,y)(x, y) of vertices of Coh(φ,ψ\varphi , \psi ) and every arrow f∈f\in Flx,y_{x,y}(Coh(φ,ψ\varphi , \psi )), one has η(f)k(y)=k(x)η′(f)\eta (f)k(y) =k(x)\eta '(f).

By Prop. 2, it is enough to verify condition b) when ff belongs to the image of Fl(α\alpha ) or to that of hh, so that b) is equivalent to the conjunction of the two conditions c) and d) below:

c) For x∈x\in Som(G), y∈y\in Som(G) and g∈g\in Flx,y(G)_{x,y}(G), one has η(α(g))k(y)=k(x)η′(α(g))\eta (\alpha (g))k(y) =k(x)\eta '(\alpha (g));

d) For every a∈a\in Som(H), one has η(h(a))k(ψ(a))=k(φ(a))η′(h(a))\eta (h(a))k(\psi (a)) =k(\varphi (a))\eta '(h(a)). Condition (i) is equivalent to the conjunction of a) and c), and condition (ii) is condition d), whence the corollary.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
