Topologie algébrique, chapter III, § 2. Homotopie et chemins

In a topological space, the relation “there exists a path with origin xx and term yy” is an equivalence relation.

The path-connected components of a topological space X are called the equivalence classes for the above relation. A path-connected component is a path-connected space. Let xx be a point of X. The path-connected component of xx is the union of the path-connected subspaces of X containing xx. It is also the union of the images of the paths with origin xx in X.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
