Topologie algébrique, chapter III, § 2. Homotopie et chemins

Suppose that the space X is arcwise connected. Let xx be a point of X. For ff to be arcwise continuous, it suffices that, for every path cc with origin xx, the mapping f∘cf\circ c be continuous. Indeed, let dd be an arbitrary path in X and let cc be a path in X with origin xx and with term d(0)d(0). If the mapping f∘(c∗d)f\circ (c*d) is continuous, the same is true of the mapping f∘df\circ d because we have f∘d(t)=f∘(c∗d)((t+1)/2)f\circ d(t) =f\circ (c*d)((t+ 1)/2).

A continuous mapping is arcwise continuous. The converse is not always true; the propositions 12 and 13 below provide criteria making it possible to assert that an arcwise continuous mapping is continuous.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
