Topologie algébrique, chapter III, § 2. Homotopie et chemins

Let p:E→Bp: E\rightarrow B be an étale and separated mapping and let s:B→Es: B\rightarrow E be a section of pp. If the space B is locally path-connected and if the section ss is path-continuous, it is continuous.

Let bb be a point of B; let us prove that ss is continuous at the point bb. Since pp is an étale mapping, there exist a neighbourhood V of bb and a continuous local section s′s' of pp defined in V such that s′(b)=s(b)s'(b) =s(b) (I, p. 33, prop. 9). Since B is locally path-connected, we may suppose that V is path-connected. For every path cc in V, with origin bb, the mappings s∘cs\circ c and s′∘cs'\circ c are two continuous liftings to B of the mapping c:I→Xc:\mathbf{I}\rightarrow X and we have s∘c(0)=s′∘c(0)=s(b)s\circ c(0) =s'\circ c(0) =s(b). By Corollary 1 of I, p. 34, we have s∘c=s′∘cs\circ c=s'\circ c and in particular s∘c(1)=s′∘c(1)s\circ c(1) =s'\circ c(1). Since every point of V is the end point of a path in V with origin bb, the mappings ss and s′s' coincide in V. The mapping ss is therefore continuous in V.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
