Let X be a locally compact space and A the Banach algebra $\mathscr{C}_0(X)$. Let I be an ideal of A such that, for all $x\in X$, there exists $f\in I$ such that $f(x)\not= 0$. Show that I contains the ideal of functions with compact support in X.
