Théories spectrales, chapter I, § 5. Algèbres de Banach commutatives régulières

Let A be a commutative regular Banach algebra, I an ideal of A and f:X′(A)→Cf:\mathsf{X}'(A)\rightarrow \mathbf{C} a continuous function. Suppose that, for every χ∈X′(A)\chi \in \mathsf{X}'(A), there exists an element yχ∈Iy_{\chi}\in I such that f=G′(yχ)f=\mathscr{G}'(y_{\chi}) in a neighbourhood of χ\chi. Then there exists an element y∈Iy\in I such that f=G′(y)f=\mathscr{G}'(y).

Let A~\widetilde{A} be the Banach algebra obtained from A by adjunction of a unit element. Then A~\widetilde{A} is regular (remark 1), and X′(A)=X(A~)\mathsf{X}'(A) =\mathsf{X}(\widetilde{A}); it is therefore sufficient to apply cor. 1 to A~\widetilde{A} and to the ideal I.

If I is an ideal of a commutative Banach algebra, recall (cf. I, p. 30) that we denote by V(I) the set of χ∈X(A)\chi \in \mathsf{X}(A) whose kernel contains I, in other words the set of χ∈X(A)\chi \in \mathsf{X}(A) where all the functions G(x)\mathscr{G}(x) vanish for x∈Ix\in I. It is a closed subset of X(A)\mathsf{X}(A) for the Jacobson topology.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
