Théories spectrales, chapter II, § 1. Transformation de Fourier

The topological group G^\widehat{G} is called the dual group of G.

Since G is locally compact, the mapping (x,χ)↦χ(x)(x, \chi )\mapsto \chi (x) is continuous on G×G^G\times \widehat{G} (TG, X, p. 28, th. 3).

Recall that M1(G)\mathscr{M}^1(G) denotes the unital involutive Banach algebra of bounded complex measures on G (Example 4 of I, p. 99). For every bounded complex measure μ∈M1(G)\mu\in \mathscr{M}^1(G) and every χ∈G^\chi \in \widehat{G}, we write

χ(μ)=∫Gχ(x)dμ(x)(1) \chi (\mu) =\int_G\chi (x)d\mu(x) \tag{1}

(cf. INT, VIII, §2, Noo6^o6).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
