The bijectivity of the mapping from $\widehat{G}$ into $\mathsf{X}(L^1(G))$ of Proposition 1 is a particular case of the correspondence between continuous representations of a locally compact group H (not necessarily commutative) and continuous representations of the algebra $L^1(H)$.
