Théories spectrales, chapter III, § 2. Exemples d’applications linéaires compactes

The space Lp′(X×Y)\mathscr{L}^{p'}(X\times Y) is contained in Np,p(X×Y)\mathscr{N}^{p,p}(X\times Y). The linear mapping from Lp′(X×Y)\mathscr{L}^{p'}(X\times Y) into L(Lp(X);Lp′(Y))\mathscr{L}(L^p(X); L^{p'}(Y)) defined by k↦ukk\mapsto u_k induces, after passing to the quotient, a continuous injective linear mapping from Lp′(X×Y)L^{p'}(X\times Y) into L(Lp(X);Lp′(Y))\mathscr{L}(L^p(X); L^{p'}(Y)).

Let k∈Lp′(X×Y)k\in \mathscr{L}^{p'}(X\times Y). The mapping kk is measurable (INT, IV, p. 84, § 5, No.o6^o6, Theorem 5). Let f∈Lp(X)f\in \mathscr{L}^p(X) and g∈Lp(Y)g\in \mathscr{L}^p(Y). The function h:(x,y)↦f(x)g(y)h: (x, y)\mapsto f(x)g(y) belong to Lp(X×Y)\mathscr{L}^p(X\times Y) and ∥h∥p=∥f∥p∥g∥p\|h\|_p=\|f\|_p\|g\|_p (INT, V, p. 95, § 8, No.o3^o3, Corollary 2). The function hkhk is therefore integrable on X×YX\times Y and we have

(μ⊗ν)∗(∣hk∣)⩽∥k∥p′∥h∥p=∥k∥p′∥f∥p∥g∥p (\mu\otimes \nu )^*(|hk|)\leqslant \|k\|_{p'}\|h\|_p=\|k\|_{p'}\|f\|_p\|g\|_p

by Hölder's inequality (INT, IV, p. 208, § 6, No.o4^o4, Theorem 2), which proves that k∈Np,p(X×Y)k\in \mathscr{N}^{p,p}(X\times Y) with ∥k∥p,p⩽∥k∥p′\|k\|_{p,p}\leqslant \|k\|_{p'}.

Since p′≠+∞p'\not = +\infty, every function k∈Lp′(X×Y)k\in \mathscr{L}^{p'}(X\times Y) is moderate (INT, V, p. 9, § 1, No.o3^o3, Corollary), and the last assertion then results from Proposition 3, b) and c).

For every function k:X×Y→Ck: X\times Y\rightarrow \mathbf{C} and every y∈Yy\in Y, we denote by kyk_y the mapping of X into C\mathbf{C} defined by ky(x)=k(x,y)k_y(x) =k(x, y), and we denote by k∘k_{\circ} the mapping of Y into F(X;C)\mathscr{F}(X;\mathbf{C}) defined by y↦kyy\mapsto k_y. Analogously, we shall denote by the same symbol the mapping of Y into the space of functions defined μ\mu-almost everywhere on X which associates to yy the class of kyk_y.

For every function kk of X×YX\times Y into C\mathbf{C}, we put

Np′,q′(k)=(∫Y∙Np′(ky)q′dν(y))1/q′. N_{p',q'}(k)=\left(\int_Y^\bullet N_{p'}(k_y)^{q'}d\nu(y)\right)^{1/q'}.

It is an element of [0,+∞][0,+\infty ].

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
