Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 3. Fonctions de type positif

A function f∈C(X×X)f\in \mathscr{C}(X\times X) is said to be a universally positive kernel on X if it satisfies the equivalent conditions of Theorem 1.

If ff is a universally positive kernel on X, a pair (E,g)(E, g) satisfying condition (iv) of loc. cit. is called a Hilbert realization of ff; if condition (iii) is satisfied, it is said to be a cyclic Hilbert realization.

We denote by Noy+(X)_+(X) the set of universally positive kernels on X.

Let X′X' be a separated topological space and h:X→X′h: X\rightarrow X' a continuous mapping. The mapping f↦f∘(h,h)f\mapsto f\circ (h, h) from C(X′×X′)\mathscr{C}(X'\times X') into C(X×X)\mathscr{C}(X\times X) induces, by passing to the subspaces, a mapping Noy+(X′)→_+(X')\rightarrow Noy+(X)_+(X).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
