Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 3. Fonctions de type positif

Let A be an involutive Banach algebra. Let λ∈A+′\lambda \in A'_+ be a continuous positive linear form on A. A Hilbertian realization of λ\lambda is by definition a triple (E,x,φ)(E, x, \varphi ) consisting of a Hilbert space E, an element xx of E and a morphism of involutive algebras φ\varphi of A into L(E)\mathscr{L}(E), such that λ(b∗a)=⟨φ(b)x∣φ(a)x⟩\lambda (b^*a) =\langle \varphi (b)x|\varphi (a)x\rangle for every (a,b)∈A2(a, b)\in A^2.

If the set of elements φ(a)x\varphi (a)x for a∈Aa\in A is total in E, one says that (E,x,φ)(E, x, \varphi ) is a cyclic Hilbertian realization of λ\lambda.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
