Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 3. Fonctions de type positif

A continuous function φ∈C(G)\varphi \in \mathscr{C}(G) is said to be of positive type on G if the function ff defined by f(g,h)=φ(g−1h)f(g, h) =\varphi (g^{-1}h) on G×GG\times G is a universally positive kernel on G.

Pos(G) denotes the set of functions of positive type on G, and Pos1(G)(_1(G) (resp. Pos⩽1(G))_{\leqslant 1}(G)) denotes the subset of φ∈\varphi \in Pos(G) such that φ(e)=1(\varphi (e) = 1 (resp. such that φ(e)⩽1)\varphi (e)\leqslant 1).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
