Commutative Algebra, chapter I, § 1. Diagrams and exact sequences

Suppose that the diagram (10) is commutative and the two rows are exact. Then:

(i) If u′u', a and c are injective, b is injective. (ii) If v, a and c are surjective, b is surjective.

Assertion (i) is a consequence of assertion (i) of Proposition 2: for Ker(a)=0\mathrm{Ker}(a) = 0 and Ker(c)=0\mathrm{Ker}(c) = 0, hence Ker(b)=0\mathrm{Ker}(b) = 0.

Assertion (ii) is a consequence of assertion (ii) of Proposition 2: for Coker(a)=0\mathrm{Coker}(a) = 0 and Coker(c)=0\mathrm{Coker}(c) = 0, hence Coker(b)=0\mathrm{Coker}(b) = 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
