Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 3. m-adic topologies on Noetherian rings

Let AA be a commutative ring, mm an ideal of AA, EE an AA-module and (En)(E_n) a filtration on the additive group EE consisting of submodules of EE. The filtrations (En)(E_n) is called m-good if: (1) mEn⊂En+1m E_n \subset E_{n+1} for all n∈Zn \in \mathbf{Z}; (2) there exists an integer n0n_0 such that mEn=En+1m E_n = E_{n+1} for n≥n0n \geq n_0.

Then by induction on qq, mqEn=En+qm^q E_n = E_{n+q} for n≥n0,q≥1n \geq n_0, q \geq 1. Note that condition (1) means that the filtration (En)(E_n) is compatible with the AA-module structure on EE if AA is given the mm-adic filtration. Clearly, on every AA-module EE, the mm-adic filtration is m-good. If a filtration on an AA-module EE is m-good, the quotient filtration on any quotient module of EE is m-good.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
