Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 3. m-adic topologies on Noetherian rings

Let AA be a commutative Noetherian ring, mm an ideal of AA and EE a finitely generated AA-module. All the m-good filtrations on EE define the same topology (namely the m-adic topology).

Let (En)(E_n) be an m-good filtration on EE. As this filtration is exhaustive, every element of EE belongs to one of the EnE_n and, as EE is finitely generated and the EnE_n are AA-modules, there exists an integer n1n_1 such that En1=EE_{n_1} = E. On the other hand let n0n_0 be such that mEn=En+1mE_n = E_{n+1} for n≥n0n \geq n_0; then, for n>n0−n1n > n_0 - n_1, mnE⊂En+n1=mn+n1−n0En0⊂mn+n1−n0Em^n E \subset E_{n+n_1} = m^{n+n_1-n_0} E_{n_0} \subset m^{n+n_1-n_0} E, which proves the proposition.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
