Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 4. Lifting in complete rings

Let AA be a ring satisfying Hensel's condition and x=(x1,…,xn)x = (x_1, \ldots, x_n) a family of topologically nilpotent elements of AA. Let g=(g1,…,gq)g = (g_1, \ldots, g_q) be a system without constant term of series in A[[X1,…,Xs]]A[[X_1, \ldots, X_s]] and f=(f1,…,fp)f = (f_1, \ldots, f_p) a system of formal power series in A[[X1,…,Xq]]A[[X_1, \ldots, X_q]]. Then g(x)=(g1(x),…,gq(x))g(x) = (g_1(x), \ldots, g_q(x)) is a family of topologically nilpotent elements of AA and

(f∘g)(x)=f(g(x)). (f \circ g)(x) = f(g(x)).

The fact that the gi(x)g_i(x) are topologically nilpotent follows immediately from Proposition 6 and the fact that in AA the ideal of topologically nilpotent elements is closed. Relation (18) is obvious when the fjf_j are polynomials; on the other hand, if mm and m′m' are the ideals of series without constant term in

A[[X1,…,Xq]]andA[[X1,…,Xn]] A[[X_1, \ldots, X_q]] \quad \text{and} \quad A[[X_1, \ldots, X_n]]

respectively, clearly the relation f∈m′kf \in {m'}^k implies f(g1,…,gq)∈m′kf(g_1, \ldots, g_q) \in {m'}^k. The two sides of (18) are therefore continuous functions of ff to (A[[X1,…,Xq]])p(A[[X_1, \ldots, X_q]])^p if A[[X1,…,Xq]]A[[X_1, \ldots, X_q]] is given the mm-adic topology, by virtue of the above remark and Proposition 6; whence relation (18).

In what follows, for a ring AA and an ideal mm of AA we shall denote by mxnm^{x^n} the product set ∏i=1nm\prod_{i=1}^n m, in AnA^n, where mi=mm_i = m for 1≤i≤n1 \leq i \leq n, to avoid ambiguity.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
