Commutative Algebra, chapter IV, § 2. Primary decomposition

Let MM be a finitely generated module over a Noetherian ring AA. The following properties are equivalent: (a) MM is of finite length. (b) Every ideal p∈Ass⁡(M)p \in \operatorname{Ass}(M) is a maximal ideal of AA. (c) Every ideal p∈Supp⁡(M)p \in \operatorname{Supp}(M) is a maximal ideal of AA.

Let (Mi)0≤i≤n(M_i)_{0 \leq i \leq n} be a composition series of MM such that, for 0≤i≤n−10 \leq i \leq n - 1, Mi/Mi+1M_i/M_{i+1} is isomorphic to A/piA/p_i, where pip_i is prime (§1§ 1, no. 4, Theorem 1). If MM is of finite length, so is each of the AA-modules A/piA/p_i, which implies that each of the rings A/piA/p_i is Artinian; but as A/piA/p_i is an integral domain, it is therefore a field, in other words pip_i is maximal; we conclude that (a) implies (b) (§1§ 1, no. 4, Theorem 2). Condition (b) implies (c) by §1§ 1, no. 3, Proposition 7. Finally, if all the ideals of Supp⁡(M)\operatorname{Supp}(M) are maximal, so are the pip_i (§1§ 1, no. 4, Theorem 2), hence the A/piA/p_i are simple AA-modules and MM is of finite length, which completes the proof.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
