Commutative Algebra, chapter VI, § 7. Approximation theorem

Let AA and A′A' be two valuation rings of the same field KK. AA and A′A' are called independent if KK is the ring generated by AA and A′A'. Two valuations on KK are called independent if their rings are independent and dependent otherwise.

An improper valuation on KK is independent of every valuation on KK. For two valuations of height 1 on KK to be independent, it is necessary and sufficient that they be not equivalent (§ 4, no. 5, Proposition 6 (c)).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
